“After a very traumatic event I found myself cut off and alone, I was introduced to TRAC who mentioned a group for people like myself, hesitant at first I decided to give it a try and was happy I did as I found the group warm and friendly. Assurance was given that everything was private and confidential and found myself at such ease how others spoke openly. I gained such insightful information valuable to my experience and came away refreshed with knowledge to help on those bad days.”
An Advocate is someone who will support you, listen to you and can speak for you in times of need. At times people with complex needs may feel vulnerable and need support in getting their voice heard if you feel no-one is listening to what you want or how you feel about a situation.
On our day course, we will educate and empower you to give you the skills required to become an independent advocate and provide your clients or peers with the best service you can, allowing you to empower the individuals and help them breakdown the barriers they are facing ultimately allowing the potential to be reached and goals achieved.
Independent advocacy is about speaking up for an individual or group. Independent advocacy is a way to help people have a stronger voice and to have as much control as possible over their own lives. Independent Advocacy organisations are separate from organisations that provide other types of services.
